Inspired by CrossFit’s methodology, I was fueled by the fact that I could change lives with the “sport of fitness”. CrossFit has changed my life and made my CrossFit coaching dreams become a reality, I have been blessed to see that same change and passion in our community of 150+ athletes. At CrossFit Flight we will hold you accountable and provide you with the coaching, knowledge, and support to achieve your personal goals. As part of the CrossFit Flight Crew, your fitness goals will take off!

Favorite Movement: Deadlift
My legs needed a break from the constant ground-pounding and my body needed functional programming that would make me a more well-rounded athlete and person (sadly, I could barely squat when I started CrossFit!). I walked into CrossFit unable to do one pull up, yet I could easily run 15 miles on any given day. I was immediately humbled by my weaknesses and knew that with CrossFit I could conquer pieces of me that I had been neglecting. After experiencing amazing results with CrossFit Flight’s programming and inspired to help others achieve those same amazing results, I joined the CrossFit Flight Crew as a Coach in August 2013. As a mother of two young children and someone who has struggled in the past to reach and maintain my own personal fitness goals, I am here to inspire, motivate, and hold you personally accountable to no one but yourself. Get yourself to our box doors and I promise you nothing less than 110% in both results, coaching, and community.

Favorite Movement: Snatch
I’ve been coaching with coach John for the past year. There’s nothing more gratifying than watching people grow in confidence and strength. Wether that means getting there first muscle up or making huge strides in someone’s mobility. My favorite exercises are probably the Big 3 lifts Squat, bench, and deadlifts along with Olympic lifting. I have a 515bs. Deadlift @ 175 and a state record for a 363lbs. Bench press. This past July with only 5 weeks of bench training and the rest being Crossfit. That being said I love being given the opportunity to pass on what I’ve experienced under the bar for the past 28 years.
Favorite WOD: King Kong

I started CrossFit in the Summer of 2012 and became a certified coach in the Summer of 2013. CrossFit has everything I need to be a great athlete with a great mix of strength, endurance and mobility. CrossFit has also provided the right amount of competition to keep me going without having to schedule a race each month. Even more than all of that, CrossFit is a community. I never work out alone. I am constantly encouraged. As a coach, I will continue to strengthen the CrossFit Flight community. If you ever have any questions you can find me at the 5:00 am AND 6:00 am WODs.
Favorite WOD: Kelly
Favorite Movement: Cleans
I found CrossFit in my collegiate swimming off season and decided to make it my full-time fitness regime. What I came to love about CrossFit is that I am able to push my mind and body further than I ever thought possible. CrossFit incorporates all kinds of movements and lifts to keep training constantly varied. I also love that CrossFit is for everyone. I was the first in my family to start Crossfit a year and a half ago and since then my dad, mom, brother and grandma have drunk the Kool-Aid.
I have been a coach at CrossFit Flight since March of 2014 and I absolutely love my job. I continue to learn every day from my fellow coaches and our members. CrossFit Flight’s members have become my second family. I promise if you come to CrossFit Flight, you won’t be disappointed; you will find an incredible community, as well as, a remarkable coaching staff. That is only the beginning!
I am a clinical exercise science major at Grand Valley, I look forward to learning more about movement, and also furthering my CrossFit education.
Favorite WOD: Grace
Favorite Movement: Clean and Jerk
A good friend of mine introduced me to my first CrossFit workout or WOD (Filthy Fifty) to prove me completely wrong. That single WOD literally flipped my workout world upside down. My first WOD with Crossfit Flight left me on the ground staring at the ceiling trying to catch my breath. Even though it seems WODs still end this way for me at least once a week, the amount of weight has gone up, and the amount of time to complete a WOD has gone down. There is no denying the improvements in every aspect of fitness.
Favorite WOD: Filthy Fifty
Favorite Movement(s): GHD Situp, Push Jerk.
Fortunately, that all changed in 2012. Literally the day after I heard about CrossFit Flight, I was sitting across the desk from Coach John listening to words like constantly varied, measurable results, accountability, support, coaching, camaraderie, and family. It honestly sounded too good to be true, but little did I know that it would only take one class to see all of those things he described come to fruition. Today, WODing with the Flight Crew is among the part of day I look forward to most. And the best part is I get to share this journey with my wife, Amanda, as well as our three children through the CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Teens programs. Becoming a coach in 2014 was merely another step in my journey of personal growth and helping others discover the same passion and life-changing benefits that CrossFit has provided me.
Favorite WOD: Murph
Favorite Movement: Overhead Squats (actually my least favorite, but I’m trying to change that!)
Favorite CF Moment: That one time I beat both Coach Colin and Coach Dave in a WOD (oh wait, it’s just me vs me…sorry)
Although I had taught group fitness classes for 12+ years, CrossFit was a workout like I had never experienced before. It was tough but exhilahrating, individual yet community supported, and one on one coaching from knowledgable and approachable coaches. This quickly became my workout home.
It also became the part of my day that I scheduled OTHER appointments around and my three young children begged to come along. It was actually the first CrossFit facility that I had found that actually welcomed children! They had a clean and vibrant kids area where the children can play with their friends, play with age appropriate toys and watch their parents WOD. There was nothing like the moment I observed my four and eight year challenging each other in a burpee contest at home! Not to mention my two year old walking around the house starting a WOD by hollering… 3-2-1 GO! And fully expecting this mama to start WODDING!
CrossFit Flight is home because of the people, the varied and challenging workouts, and the family friendly environment. Truly a blessing for the body, mind and soul.
